The inaugural Rockin’ the Pier to Support Military Families event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 6-11 pm on the pier at the Hard Rock Cafe in Baltimore, MD. Drink specials will be available. The event is family-friendly and special activities for the kids include face painting and appearances by costumed characters.
Entertainers include:
Matt Macis is the only tribute artist to have performed lived in concert with Michael Jackson's THIS IS IT band. Having toured worldwide in his tribute to Michael Jackson, Matt Macis' performance will include live vocals and all the famous dance moves. He shared, "I'm very excited to take part in such a great event, raising funds and awareness for an even greater cause. As Americans, it is our responsibility to give back to those who answer to the ultimate call of duty. We can really make a difference by giving -- our time, effort, and yes, our money -- to those who make the greater sacrifice in protecting our freedoms. We are all blessed in different and diverse ways, and I am more than happy to donate my time and talents to help make a memorable night for the men and women of the United States Armed Forces."
Meridian One is a collective group of musicians who bring a balance of hard rock, classic rock, punk and pop to the stage. The group will be headlining the event and covering all of your favorite rock songs. Meridian One provided the following statement, “We are honored to have an opportunity to give something back, however small, to those who have given and continue to give.”
Hip-hop artist, Wordsmith has been busy building a loyal fan base and garnering critical acclaim over the past few years with a Hip Hop style that can’t be labeled. The Baltimore native released his life lesson album, “King Noah,” on June 19th, 2012. He will be closing his set with a special song for the troops, “A Hero’s Welcome.” "For over 20 years my Father served in the Army and retired as a Full Colonel. He served in Desert Storm, won several medals and was honored for his work throughout his time in the armed forces, so this is my way of giving back to my Father and the troops that sacrifice their lives for us on a daily basis,” Wordsmith said.
With over twenty-five years of experience, Joe DeSantis of DeSantis DJ and Karaoke Entertainment will be at the event to ensure a good time with music for all. Mr. DeSantis is a former combat medic.
Recently voted as one of the top five radio hosts by the people of Baltimore, Miss j NYce of WEAA 88.9 will host the event. “I am an avid supporter of community events and am excited to participate in Rockin’ the Pier benefit for the Fisher House. My manager proudly served in the Air Force,” she said.
Guests are encouraged to print a free ticket and donate online to save time at the registration table. Guests will receive one raffle ticket for every $10 donation. Free and VIP tickets are available at http://hardrockcafefisherhouse.eventbrite.com/ Sponsorship opportunities are also available, contact kreed@rockinthepier.org for more information.
A portion of the event proceeds go to the Fisher House™ program to support America's military families in their time of need. The Fisher House™ Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers when members of military families must travel far from home for specialized medical care. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.
The event is managed by Kim Reed. Ms. Reed is participating in the Army Ten Miler as part of Team Fisher House. She is the daughter of a Korean War veteran and a long time volunteer at Walter Reed National Medical Center.
Additional performers will be announced soon. Visit http://rockinthepier.org for more information.
