Troy Technologies Develops Racechair Travel Bag for US Paralympian
The Torrance, California-based company created a custom travel bag to help keep a US Paralympian’s racing wheelchair safe and secure during air travel.
Torrance, CA, August 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In support of the 2012 US Paralympic team, Troy Technologies was honored to fulfill an athlete’s personal request for a racing wheelchair travel bag.
As racechairs are shaped differently than standard wheelchairs, standard wheelchair travel bags are unfit for use; because the chairs are so specialized and costly, their proper handling and care is of high importance. Kerri Morgan, a US Paralympian from St. Louis, Missouri, contacted Troy Technologies in search of a solution. The company welcomed the challenge of creating a safe, sturdy, but easy to handle travel bag for racing wheelchairs. Based on the dimensions of Morgan’s racechair, the company created a custom prototype.
“Prior to receiving my racing wheelchair bag from Troy Technologies, I did not have a safe, secure way to transport my racing wheelchair during airplane travel, and it had been damaged several times by the airlines,” Morgan said. “The travel bag is very lightweight and easy to maneuver. My racechair fits perfectly in the bag. I cannot wait to use the bag during my next trip.”
Morgan’s next trip is to London, England, home of the 2012 Paralympic Games. The 2012 Paralympics will take place from August 29-September 9, and feature 20 events with over 4,000 athletes from 150 nations taking part. Since 1952, the Paralympic Games have offered elite athletes with disabilities the opportunity to compete against their peers in the pinnacle of sporting competition.
Troy Technologies specializes in travel wheelchairs and related accessories. The company manufactures and sells numerous travel wheelchair models, all designed with user comfort and safety in mind. Troy Technologies’ wheelchairs feature innovative designs, are lightweight, and most models fold and store easily for travel and stowage. After the successful creation of the initial prototype, the company added racechair travel bags to its everyday product offering to give other wheelchair racers a safe, reliable way to transport their chairs during travel.
