Bollinger Insurance Announces New Service/Product for Clients to Document and Protect Valuable Landscape Assets
Short Hills, NJ, June 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Bollinger Insurance has developed a reputation for providing their clients with the best products and services available to manage and protect their valuables. With the 2007 storm season upon us, Bollinger is continuing that tradition by making available a revolutionary new product and service from Horticultural Asset Management, Inc. (HMI).
HMI uses a patented process and field network of trained assessors to inventory the type, size, location, and general health of each tree and shrub on a property and then calculate the replacement cost value of each one. Bollinger is recommending the service to their clients as a way to document their valuable landscape assets and to protect them from loss or damage.
It is well documented that healthy, vigorous plants are more likely to survive adverse environmental conditions. During the assessment process, HMI’s assessors use a standardized data collection program to help rate each tree and shrub and identify plants requiring following up for health reasons or because they pose a risk to other structures. HMI provides this information to property owners in a Plant Health Score report. Property owners can then address these issues and minimize the risk of loss to these assets and/or damage to their home or other assets.
The replacement cost values will be used by Bollinger to determine an appropriate insurance product for each client. Based on HMI’s valuation system, exciting new insurance products are being developed to protect the investment property owners have in their landscapes. As a leading independent insurance agency, Bollinger has access to these products and will work with their clients to select the product that best meets their needs.

“In recent years we have all witnessed the damage that storms, fires and floods have caused to structures and landscape assets,” said Rhonda Graber, Managing Director Personal Insurance of Bollinger, Inc. “The horticultural assessment gives our customers all of the information they need to properly determine coverage levels for their landscape assets as well as mitigate any risk that comes with unhealthy trees and shrubs.”
“Millions of dollars worth of trees and shrubs are lost each year to storms, flooding, lightning and other perils,” said Cowles. “A single tree can cost $20,000 or more to replace. Once property owners understand the value of their landscape assets, they will understand the need to properly manage these assets and work with their insurance carrier to make certain their coverage is adequate. The HMI Horticultural Assessment can help property owners make wise decisions about their landscape assets.”
