Artlightenment 2012 to Feature Live Theater
The Artlightenment show is picking up steam for the 2012 art and film festival with a new segment: live theater. The show is scheduled for November 7th- 11th and promises to be the most jam-packed year yet.
Nashville, TN, September 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Artlightenment is an annual event that was created by Robyn Morshead in 2009. It is held at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville in the old Fall School building. Corinne Sullivan, President of the Nashville Church says, “It is part of our mission to assist the artists in society, as they are the ones who uplift the culture. So this art show ties right in with our purpose.”
Artlightenment introduced its Film Festival in 2011 to help promote filmmakers. Morshead explained, “The idea is to have a festival of visual artists, filmmakers, photographers and other artists with local and national mentors helping the artists and boosting their careers.”
There will be awards presented in this year’s show including “Best of Festival,” among others.
New to this year’s festival will be a play organized and directed by Jaz Dorsey. Dorsey is well-known as founder of the African American Playwrights Exchange.
The general public is invited to attend the play on Wednesday Nov 7, and the Film Festival on the evenings of Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November 9th. Art will be on display the entire time, with artist receptions and workshops on Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th. Tickets for the event are only $10 and give full access to all five days of the event as well as five workshops on film and art from national and local celebrity artists to be delivered throughout the show.
Acceptable art submissions include paintings, mixed-media, photographs, sculptures and film. All submissions should be suitable for general audiences. Prospective participants may submit their film or artwork online at www.artlightenment.com. For more information, visit artlightenment.com or contact Robyn Morshead at robynmorshead@gmail.com.
