Jinnah vs. Gandhi by Roderick Matthews Now Available at Infibeam

Jinnah vs. Gandhi, an extremely interesting book, based on the history of India, on the two most important politicians Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Mohandas Gandhi, who were though different in their thinking and ideologies but at the same time had a lot in common.

Ahmedabad, India, September 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Jinnah vs. Gandhi is written by Roderick Mathews and is now available on Infibeam.com. This story revolves around the relationship between Jinnah and Gandhi. How they both were poles apart in their thinking, leadership techniques, ideologies, decision making but at the same time both come from a Gujarati merchant class background, having done their education in London and both being members of the Congress.

Roderick has dealt with various issues in detail such as partition, Gandhiji’s ideology of Swaraj and non-violence, how their differences have led to the formation of two new countries, their contribution to politics and both being referred as the “father” of their respective nations. Ironically, both these political figures belonged to the same political party, and, therefore, supposed to believe in the same ideology on which the Congress is based. But, as it is, it so turned out that Jinnah, who at first posed as a secularist ended up as a Muslim who wanted division of a single country into two along the religious line. In the same way, Gandhi, who posed as a devout Hindu moralist and social reformer, ended up as a national political leader. Their ideological differences and the consequences thereof went on to profoundly influence the subsequent histories of both the nations.

As it is, both Jinnah and Gandhi ended up as complete failures in spite of the fact that they got what they wished for. Not only that, the political fall-out also has had continental implications. Roderick Matthew’s book deals with some key issues as what put unbridgeable distance between the two men, the differences and similarities between the two, what changed their outlook so radically, what impact it had on the histories of not only India and Pakistan but the whole of Asia, etc.
