Lunkerville Signs South Bend as Multi-Year Title Sponsor
America’s Heritage Fishing Brand Partners with Long-Running, Acclaimed TV Show
New York, NY, September 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Lunkerville, the show that features “Real People with Real Fish Stories” has signed a multi-year, Title Sponsorship Agreement with South Bend Sporting Goods, one of the oldest and most- loved fishing tackle brands in America. “Lunkerville, Presented by South Bend” marks Season 7 of the popular series, which premieres on World Fishing Network in September, 2012 and re-airs on NBC Sports in January, 2013.
“Lunkerville is not your average fishing show,” explains Michael de Avila (‘Mike D’), Lunkerville’s host and creator. “From the start, we envisioned a show that embraces the simple fun and innocent pleasure of fishing, the way it used to be, years ago. A show where the host is not the expert but the featured guest is. We’ve never strayed from that vision, knowing that one day; the right sponsor would come along. At last year’s ICAST trade show, we met the folks at South Bend. They, like us, understand what fishing is really about. I’m excited to see how our stories will come together and evolve over the next few years!”
“There is no other fishing show on television today that represents South Bend as well as Lunkerville and its host, Mike D.”, says South Bend CEO, Jory Katlin. “We both share the same fundamental beliefs about fishing; that it brings families and friends together and should always be fun and affordable. The power of our partnership will help further our mission to remind everyone of the value of recreational fishing in our lives. Fishing has always been an important part of North American history and together, we’ll help nurture its role in our future.”
Now in its seventh season, “Lunkerville, Presented by South Bend” will premiere the first of thirteen all new, co- branded episodes on World Fishing Network (WFN) in the Freshwater Friday weekly primetime slot of 10:30pm ET, starting September 7, 2012. Re-airs can be seen on Saturdays at 6:30am ET and 2:30pm ET. WFN is the only all- fishing network and reaches 40 million homes across North America.
Beginning January, 2013, Season 7 will also air on the NBC Sports Network, to an audience of more than 80 million television households weekly, on cable and satellite systems throughout the United States. “Lunkerville, Presented by South Bend” can also be viewed on select PBS stations in the Northeast; the finalized schedule of channels and airings will be released later this year.
About Lunkerville
When Indie film director Michael de Avila hooked his passion for story telling onto his love of fishing, he spawned an award-winning reality television show, Lunkerville. While other fishing shows rely on expert hosts and pro- tournament competition, Lunkerville’s “Mike D” casts his line with everyday, recreational fishermen, traveling to their secret spots and sharing their special techniques. In his signature laid-back manner, he reels in the camaraderie, the banter and the bass. Shot with his filmmaker's eye and touch, every episode is treated as a short documentary film. In 2009, Lunkerville earned a CINE Golden Eagle for documentary filmmaking; one of the most coveted awards in television. Lunkerville airs on WFN in Canada and the United States and also, on the NBC Sports Network in the U.S. and is a Rockville Pictures production.
