MYOB Company Culture Honoured with Human Synergistics' Coveted Transformation Award
MYOB, Australia and New Zealand’s largest business management software provider, will be just one of two companies this year that received a coveted Transformation Award from Human Synergistics.
Sydney, Australia, September 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- MYOB, Australia and New Zealand’s largest business management software provider, will be just one of two companies this year to receive a coveted Transformation Award from HumanSep Synergistics at their annual conference in Melbourne.
The Transformation Award, to be collected by MYOB CEO Tim Reed, officially recognises the measurable cultural change the company worked hard to evolve over two years. It honours the constructive work place culture that they have successfully created.
From 26 high-profile Australian companies re-tested by Human Synergistics in 2012, MYOB was amongst the best examples of positive change. The testing comprised set assessment criteria and diagnostic tools that chart and facilitate a shift from Aggressive/Defensive and Passive/Defensive styles of behaviour to predominantly Constructive styles.
Human Synergistics research confirms that Constructive cultures result in improved business outcomes. The net result for MYOB has included increasing team engagement by 13 per cent over the period, achieving double-digit annual revenue growth and almost the doubling of profit.
Shaun McCarthy, Chairman Human Synergistics ANZ, comments: “It is always pleasing to work closely with an organisation such as MYOB and to see the real benefits that building a Constructive work place culture can create. The most pleasing result for us, given our expertise in leadership development and culture, is recognising that the culture MYOB has worked hard to create has remained constructive and is benefitting the performance of the business and the team.”
MYOB CEO Tim Reed adds: “The Transformation Award is something we value highly. We’re really proud to have evolved our culture considerably in recent times, to a place where teams are happier, more collaborative and more engaged. This has tremendous productivity benefits, and enhances the quality of products and services we provide clients and partners.”
The MYOB journey began when the senior leaders decided to gain a better understanding of how their behaviours affected the business. They approached Human Synergistics and undertook a Life Styles Inventory™ assessment, an appraisal that provides individuals with feedback so they can understand how their thinking and behavioural styles are either supporting or hindering their effectiveness. Guidance is provided to help develop more Constructive styles of thinking and behaving, which correlate with greater task and people effectiveness.
Understanding where they stood as a team, the leaders took responsibility and developed a clear vision of what they wanted their organisation to be. They developed a three-year strategy to achieve this, known as "Deep Purple." It consisted of a clear business vision, measurable company goals and a set of specific strategies. The plan called out team building strategies including creating leadership programs and supporting materials for employees, developing a shared "Employee Value Proposition" and embedding the company values. To monitor change, they regularly consulted with Human Synergistics and conducted an Organisational Cultural Inventory® (OCI). An OCI is the most widely-used and thoroughly-researched diagnostic tool for measuring organisational culture in the world.
Tim Reed adds: “We are in no way slowing this journey, we’re very focused on improving our Constructive styles even further. MYOB is becoming a much stronger force.”
