Malfunction Films Seeking Projects to Produce
Malfunction Films is looking for projects with directing and acting talent already attached.
San Diego, CA, September 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Malfunction Films, a San Diego-based film production company specializing in feature films, short films and web series, is looking for film projects to produce, specifically those projects with directing and acting talent already attached.
"It's much easier for us to get the ball rolling on a film if we can go on the hunt for investors already knowing who the director and key actors will be. This helps us paint a picture of what the finished film will be like, and that helps get investors on board," said Dave Barak, founder of Malfunction Films. "We'll consider any type of film, but we're most interested in films that tread where few others have gone," he said.
With the rise of Internet distribution, hundreds of cable television channels, portable video players, in-flight movies and even content playing at gas pumps, there are plenty of opportunities for big and small films to earn their spot in the market. Malfunction Films concentrates on films that can be shot without the heavy use of special effects.
"The story and the characters are what distinguish good films from bad, not special effects. We'll certainly consider 'high concept' films, but those are harder to push through along the road to a green light. Because we're a smaller studio, our efforts are best spent on projects that are more likely to go into production," said Barak. "The added advantage is that we get the chance to discover, develop and maintain relationships with new talent before anyone else. We plan to grow as our talent pool grows."
