New Dance About to Conquer the World

Zouk dancing is almost unknown, but in some countries already bigger than salsa. This might change after Sunday. In 95 world cities there will be zouk demonstrations from IZFM, the International Zouk Flashmob. From Tokyo to New York, from Singapore to Rio de Janeiro, IZFM groups will perform zouk on the street.

New Dance About to Conquer the World
New York, NY, September 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On Sept. 16 thousands of people around the globe will go in the streets to dance zouk. Apart from highlighting the dance they want to show global solidarity. One song, one dance, one routine, one world; we are one. This is the mantra. It is to show that dance can overcome all borders of nationality, ethnicity, religion and culture. The IZFM, International Zouk Flashmob organisation has the slogan: "If we can dance together, we can live together."

Zouk dancing is a partner dance, like salsa or tango, but it has been under the radar for many years. It was invented by Brazilians who danced on music from the French Caribbean. They mixed moves from lambada, samba, salsa and added some new ones to create a new dance style, that is unique in the world. It is much slower than tango or salsa and is very wavy and fluid. Nowadays it is mostly danced to modern, popular music.

There will also be an attempt to set a record for the Guinness Book. It's unsure that the attempt will be successful because of the time difference. Guinness only recognizes simultaneous dancing.
