Dr. Frank Ragonese (“Dr. Frank”) of Pelican Wealth, along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Specialist, Beth Schell, will be hosting a free “Identity Theft” workshop on Tuesday, October 2nd at 11:30am at the Crexent Center in Bonita Springs.
“Statistics show that seniors 65 and over are at the highest risk for identity theft,” said Frank Ragonese, Founder of Pelican Wealth Advisors, LLC. “In Lee County, this age bracket accounts for 1 out of 4 people. We feel it is our obligation to educate not only our clients, but everyone in Southwest Florida, seniors or otherwise, about this growing epidemic. With the latest capabilities in technology, thieves are becoming even more savvy, and our protected information and “identity” is at a higher risk than ever. People must take the time to educate themselves and be on the lookout for potential threats. This workshop will provide a great deal of valuable information to help people understand what identity theft really is, and take measures to prevent it.”
In the workshop, presenters will cover various aspects of identity theft, including:
· A definition of what “identity theft” really is
· How identity theft can dramatically affect the victim and their loved ones
· Statistics about identity theft in Florida
· Information about who is most vulnerable to identity theft
· Proven strategies to help people avoid the most common forms of identity theft
· Critical steps that should be taken immediately if a person’s identity is compromised
The Identity Theft Workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd at 11:30am at the Crexent Center, located at 27499 Riverview Center in Bonita Springs, FL. The event is expected to last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours, which includes time for a question and answer period. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. Beth is also a member of the Lee Elder Abuse Prevention Partnership, Florida Crime Prevention Association and the Southwest Florida Bankers Association.
