Central Park N.C. Names Michael Shuman as Special Guest Speaker at the 2012 Annual Gathering

Leading Economist and Author Will Speak to the Economic Future of North Carolina’s Natural Resources

Raleigh, NC, September 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Everyday people use vast amounts of water for everything from drinking to bathing to production and agricultural inputs. The use of water comes as a cost that is all too often overlooked by the public at large. A critical issue currently affecting the lives of millions is whether or not water should be considered an economic good – subject to the rules and regulations of markets, multinational corporations and international trading organizations.

Several of the nation’s leading voices on water issues will be featured speakers at this year’s Central Park N.C. Annual Gatering on October 18, 2012 at the STARworks Center in Star, N.C. The event, called The Future of North Carolina’s Water, will feature an incredible list of guest speakers, including Michael Shuman, attorney, author, entrepreneur and leading expert on community economics and small businesses.

As a promoter of local economy concepts and small businesses, Shuman will speak to the financial value of using water to the best advantage to the community. He serves as the director for research and development for the Business Alliance for Local Living Economics (BALLE), the director of research for Cutting Edge Capital, and a fellow of the Post Carbon Institute.
