Dallas High School Football Players Open Wide to Protect Teeth

When the Sunset High School football team in Dallas takes to the field this year, they’ll do so while wearing custom-fit mouth guards prepared by the dentists at South Texas Dental.

Dallas, TX, September 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- When the Sunset High School football team in Dallas takes to the field this year, they’ll do so while wearing custom-fit mouth guards prepared by the dentists at South Texas Dental.

Unlike store-bought types, the custom-fit mouth guards offer improved protection since they disperse the force of impact more effectively. Plus, players say they are more comfortable and allow for better breathing. As an extra touch, the mouth guards were created in the school’s colors – purple and white.

Each year, more than five million teeth are knocked out in athletic events, according to the National Youth Sports Foundation.

In addition to the findings from the National Youth Sports Foundation, a recent study by the American Association of Orthodontics found 67 percent of parents admitted their child does not wear a mouth guard during organized sports. Moreover, an athlete not wearing a properly fitted, custom mouth guard is twice as likely to suffer a dental injury.
