Las Vegas: The Harvard of the West?

A new company in Las Vegas plans to offer executive programs by professors from high profile business schools, such as Harvard, Wharton, and Kellogg.

Las Vegas, NV, July 05, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Sin City may seem a strange destination for business education but a new company in Las Vegas plans to offer executive programs by professors from high profile business schools, such as Harvard, Wharton, and Kellogg. While gambling continues to be the city's largest industry, the decision makes more sense when you consider that more than five million business visitors arrive in Las Vegas every year for conventions and trade shows.

The executive education market is a $1 billion industry that has traditionally been dominated by east coast business schools. “One of the advantages of an independent company is the ability to source cutting edge thinking from the best of the best”, observes Elite Exec Ed's founder Steven Phelan, who also happens to be a professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. “We are not locked in to the perspective of just one school or one mode of thinking – our emphasis is on bringing the latest and greatest ideas from the world's best business schools,” says Phelan.

Elite Exec Ed also plans to cap participation at just 25 attendees per event. “Many events that feature well known speakers charge thousands of dollars for attendees to passively sit in a theater with thousands of others,” comments Phelan. “We have explicitly designed our event to encourage two-way interaction with the speakers, and attendees are openly invited to raise issues of importance to them and their companies”.

The first event, planned for August 22-24, has attracted distinguished faculty from Stanford, Kellogg, and the University of Southern California. Expressions of interest for future events have been received from faculty at Harvard, Wharton, and Columbia among others. Topics to be covered in the first event include: leading change, alliance management, corporate strategy, and new ideas for managing organizations.

Unlike in-house corporate training or professional development programs, event attendees will also receive the full Vegas VIP treatment. All materials are included in the $3,500 fee. More details are available from the company's website: www.eliteexeced.com or via email at info@eliteexeced.com
