Haltom City, TX Publisher, CatsCurious Press Readies to Release Second Book

Haltom City, TX, July 06, 2007 --(PR.com)-- CatsCurious Press is a new publishing company owned and operated by Sonya M. Shannon, a resident of Haltom City, TX. Shannon's company has been in operation for more than a year and is ready to release its second book, "Cooking Your Way To Romance" by Carl R. Wendtland, illustrated by Lanny Liu (ISBN-13: 9780979088919).

Shannon is an avid reader and writer of fiction and taking that next step, starting a publishing company, seemed a natural progression for her. “I have loved books all my life. I have wanted to write books since I was six, and the idea to publish them has been with me for quite a few years now. I just needed a push in the right direction.”

That push came when her husband, Jason Shannon, author of "Three Things About Animals... and Only One of Them’s True!" wrote his first children’s book and wasn’t sure how to proceed with a finished manuscript. Shannon took it upon herself to research the children’s book market and send her husband’s manuscript out. When it became apparent that selling a non-fiction children’s book was going to be difficult she made the decision to launch her publishing company.

For the time being, Shannon does all of the work herself. Upon receiving a finished manuscript from her author, she first does the layout, then the copy edit, and also markets the book. She admits that she is still learning new things with each project. “When I began working on Jason’s book, I knew I didn’t know anything! Now I know something and am sometimes overwhelmed with how much is left that I still don’t know.” Shannon loves what she’s doing however and has hopes of building her company into something stable so that she can quit working her day job and be a publisher full-time. “I get so fired up. I know my husband gets tired of hearing me talk about it, but I just love what I am doing right now.”

"Three Things About Animals... and Only One of Them’s True!" written by Jason Shannon and Illustrated by Janie Johnson (ISBN-13: 9780979088902) was officially released in December of 2006. CatsCurious Press is following it with "Cooking Your Way To Romance" by Carl R. Wendtland, Illustrated by Lanny Liu. "Cooking Your Way To Romance" is due for release on September 7th, 2007 and is available for pre-order on BN.com, Amazon.com and the CatsCurious Press website (http://www.catscuriouspress.com). “Three Things About Animals…” is available on Amazon.com and the CatsCurious Press website, and will enjoy a re-release of the title late in 2007 to prepare for Jason Shannon’s next book, "Three Things About Bugs… and Only One of Them’s True!" in early 2008. CatScratch Books, an imprint of CatsCurious Press, will be releasing an anthology of Gothic Romance/Horror short stories late in 2007. This anthology has yet to be named.
