Wilmington Attorney Takes Dedication to Helping Local Seniors to a Higher Level
Further knowledge enhances team of experts at Elder Law Firm of Andrew Olsen
Wilmington, NC, September 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- As the elder population continues to rise in New Hanover and Brunswick counties, so has the need for experts who specialize in protecting their rights. The questions of aging do not have simple answers, and the legal needs of seniors often involve social, psychological, medical, and financial needs. Recognizing this, Wilmington attorney Helayne Levy committed herself to assisting senior citizens by pursuing an advanced degree in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law. Attorney Levy has recently received her degree, and is further equipped to handle the complexities of Elder Law and provide an elevated level of service to her clients.
“Parts of the practice of Elder Law involve subtle nuances about which thought must be given. For example, prior to sitting down to talk to a client I will ask the client what side of the table I should sit on so that he or she may hear me better. I position lighting so that glare is reduced, and make documents that are easier to read. It’s about being sensitive to a client’s needs and making them as comfortable as possible,” said Levy.
Attorney Levy’s focus on elder rights extends beyond the clients she represents into the development of the public policies affecting seniors’ quality of life. By serving on the Board of Commissioners for The Wilmington Housing Authority, she hopes to contribute her understanding of the specific issues affecting older adults to advance the affordable housing options available to them.
Helayne Levy, J.D., LL.M. is Attorney and Counselor at Law with the Elder Law Firm of Andrew Olsen. She received her M.A. from Columbia University and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
