Portland, OR, July 04, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Trio Subtonic is releasing there first full length CD, "the Aqueous." Trio Subtonic casts its net in a sea of cross-current idioms, inspired by the worlds of jazz, classical, hiphop and brazilian music. The interspersion of grooves and approach to improvisation reflects the qualities of water, always seeking the lowest ground. It flows over and around rocks, plants, hidden pathways, objects that are the composed part of the music. Its no wonder then that the song titles reflect their liquid nature, even less obvious tracks like "A Fumaça" (the smoke) which is named after a one thousand foot waterfall in the interior of Bahia, Brazil.

Trio Subtonic is an inventive blend of the old and the new. Pulling from the roots of jazz, classical and traditional brazilian music, Trio Subtonic incorporates original compositions and groove heavy improvisations, laced with elements of hip-hop and samba. Based in Portland, OR, Trio Subtonic evolved from a long time collaboration between keyboardist/composer, Galen Clark and drummer/percussionist, Jesse Brooke. Bill Athens on bass makes up the the third angle of this trio and completes a sound infused with brazilian rhythms and hard hitting funk.

The CD Release Party will be completed with Portland's finest live hiphop group, Quivah. Quivah is a singular vision in Hip-Hop. All live, no samples, no MDs. The collective of Quincy, Haven, Charles, Papercuts, Pablo, Dr. BP and A.G. was forged in a mutual love of Hip-Hop and the desire to push the style to a whole new level. Quincy and Haven are brothers and it is reflected in their style. They are opposite sides of the same coin and brandish a lyrical arsenal to put any emcee on the defensive. Papercuts is a scratch geek to the bone, he breathes the atmosphere onto the band's planet. Charles brings the big beatz like no other man alive. Dr. BP is Charles' musical brother and is the melodic heart of the group. Truly unique with a combination of keys, vibraphone, and percussion; when you hear him play you know who it is. PaniQ drops the frequencies that make geologists call in alerts to the local news agencies. And A.G.? Well, he's the best guitar player in the world. The result of this collaboration is a new style of Hip-Hop that is beyond definition. This is a pure, purpose built engine of Hip-Hop and no one does it like this.

This Release Party brings two of Portland's best bands together for the first time and promises to be the night of the summer to get your groove on and hear some great original music.
