Formic Media Spends Day Volunteering at Ronald McDonald House
Search engine and social media marketing agency employees utilize quarterly volunteer day to help child-focused charity.
Portland, OR, September 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Formic Media, Inc., a search engine and social media marketing agency, contributed a volunteer day at the Ronald McDonald house. The Ronald McDonald House Charities offer a supportive environment for families with very ill children and also aid efforts to enhance pediatric health in the community.
“Formic is committed to giving back to the local community that has helped our success,” said John McPhee, Vice President of Formic. “We feel that it has greater meaning to spend time with local charities than to just write a check, although we do that as well.”
The Ronald McDonald House Charities rely on volunteer activities from participants, such as Formic Media, to assist with a variety of tasks. Volunteers help out around the house, prepare meals, and help out with various large events.
“The experience was very hands-on and satisfying,” continued McPhee. “We were very excited to see the impact just a few hours once a quarter can make for local non-profits and those that benefit from these organizations.”
The Formic Media team completed a number of housekeeping tasks including helping prepare for the annual dinner fundraiser, laundry, cleaning the play yard and play room, cleaning and disinfecting toys and restocking the kitchen with food and beverages.
Formic Media’s first official quarterly Volunteer Day and marks an aim towards enhanced engagement in the Portland community. In the past, Formic Media has provided quarterly cash donations to a charity of the company’s choosing, in addition to choosing an annual Charity of Choice who receives $12,000 worth of pro bono SEM services for an entire year. Formic will continue to hold quarterly volunteer days in addition to giving back to an annual Charity of Choice organization.
The Ronald McDonald house functions thanks to help of the many community volunteers and generous donations it receives. Their $20 room fee for families, which is typically waived, accounts for only 5% of their operating costs.
“The Formic team really made a difference at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Communications Manager Chad Greenwood.
“Our guest families truly appreciate the time and effort that others invest in their well-being. We want to thank everyone at Formic for helping fill the Ronald McDonald House with love, and we look forward to their next visit!”
Formic Media’s past involvement in community efforts have included pro bono work and donations to Cascade Academy Foundation, the Oregon Food Bank, and Start Making A Reader Today.
