New Infant and Toddler Offerings at Island Montessori Academy
Marco Island, FL, September 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Island Montessori Academy announces new infant and toddler programs for area families starting this fall on Monday and Friday morning. The Montessori & Me one-hour class is for infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 18 months with their caregivers, and is taught at the school in a prepared Montessori environment.
The infant program on Monday is for babies who crawl, and helps parents learn how to apply Montessori principles at home to make the most of the precious first year of infancy. Weekly topics include practical tips in nutrition, infant massage and movement, independence and language and the home environment.
“The Montessori & Me program is really a great opportunity for mothers, fathers, grandparents or caregivers to explore the Montessori environment together with a child,” says founder and head of school, Lisa Nguyen. “Caregivers have an opportunity to learn some of the practices and can work with their children and together discover how much fun there is to be had in a Montessori class!”
Nguyen also believes that caregivers will have an opportunity to observe their children using materials that can provide inspiration for similar activities at home. “In an authentic Montessori environment, where everything is already prepared and available for use, children are exposed to a wide range of activities that opens doors to limitless potential.”
The Friday toddler program is for children who can walk and are making the leap from infancy to small explorer. This exciting growth time will be celebrated with weekly topics such as, fostering new-found independence, joining circle time, outdoor play, exploring Montessori materials, discipline and tips for how to prepare the home for inquisitive young minds.
“If you are considering an infant or toddler class, this would be a great time to see if Montessori is a good fit for you and your child,” encourages Nguyen, “You can ask questions of a trained teacher, and talk with other like-minded parents with children of a similar age.”
The Montessori & Me program is currently enrolling for weekly classes through December 21st, from 9:00-10:00am, Monday (crawlers) and Friday (walkers). All caregivers are encouraged to bring their children to experience a wonderful and Montessori-prepared environment.
Beginning January, the school will open its first infant classroom, offered to children ages 3 months to 18 months. Special introductory tuition rates will be available and secured for the first year, and the deadline to enroll is November 1, 2012.
