QuickBooks Basic Training Offered at ETSU Innovation Laboratory

Kingsport, TN, September 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Tennessee Small Business Development Center at East Tennessee State University and its Kingsport Affiliate Office (KOSBE) will be holding a QuickBooks (QB1) Basic Training Course on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at the East Tennessee State University Innovation Laboratory, 2109 W. Market Street, Johnson City. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. There is a $75.00 per person fee for the workshop that can be paid at the door by cash or check. The TSBDC does not have the ability to accept credit cards.

The purpose of this seminar is to provide individuals interested in using QuickBooks as a business management tool a starting point to begin. Attendees will gain hands-on experience on how QuickBooks can help business owners’ accounting with customers and vendors, track sales and expenses, and manage payroll.

QuickBooks small business accounting software is made by Intuit, the top maker of personal finance and small business software for over 25 years. QuickBooks can help business owners manage their business flow better.

The instructor, Kenny Sessions, is affiliated with the Business Essential Software Trainers (TheBEST) of Nashville.

Topics include:
· Accounting basics (define and understand terms such as debits, credits, assets, liabilities, equity, income statement, balance sheet, statement of cash flow)
· Set up of a sample business on QuickBooks (develop chart of accounts, bank account, etc.)
· Recording sales and receiving payments
· Entering and paying vendor bills
· Working with bank accounts (write checks, record deposits, reconcile)
