Medical Tech, Dedicated Care Provider, Receives Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award

Laguna Hills, CA, September 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Born in the United States and raised in the Philippines, Shirley Dimapilis returned to the US in her late 20s with five dollars and a job offer to be a caregiver. From these humble beginnings, Dimapilis has cultivated a successful and fulfilling career in senior care. Treasured by coworkers and residents at The Wellington, a senior living community in Laguna Hills where she serves as a medical technician, Dimapilis is being honored this September with Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Award.

Fairhaven, an Orange County mortuary and memorial park with locations in Santa Ana and Mission Viejo, announced the recognition program in early 2012 to pay tribute to local people who have had an indelible impact on both their community and the individuals they serve.

“Shirley is a dedicated employee, meeting her day-to-day tasks with grace and precision, but what is truly inspirational about Shirley is the attentive care she provides for residents,” said Marla Noel, President of Fairhaven. “She tackles a multitude of responsibilities throughout the day but always has a warm smile and a listening ear for the seniors she serves so selflessly.”

According to Dimapilis’ supervisor Allan Macabitas, LVN, she is a crucial component to ensuring operations run smoothly, ordering and distributing medications according to doctor’s orders and updating numerous logs, journals and files mandated by the California licensing agency. However, what truly sets Dimapilis apart is her strong passion helping residents, attentively tending to their needs and caring for them as she would care for her own family.

“Shirley works with a sense of peace and tranquility that permeates her entire environment. Her composure subdues the most anxious resident and even the most harried worker,” said Judy Olsen, Executive Director at The Wellington. “She works with a gracious smile and a willingness to assist in any way she can to create a positive outcome.”

Dimapilis will be honored at Fairhaven’s Oliver Halsell Care Awards banquet on November 1 at Fairhaven’s Mission Viejo location. The banquet honors a year’s worth of achievements among the local community. Additionally, Fairhaven will make a donation to Samaritan’s Purse on behalf Dimapilis.
