Pivot VFX Adds Animation Director David Tart

One of Pivot VFX’s “big gets” is former Pixar animator David Tart. He will be the animation director for the company and has worked as an animator on “Toy Story,” Toy Story 2,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Finding Nemo.” He was also the animation director for “The Ant Bully.” “My plan is to develop a great 3-D and animation department,” Tart said. Albuquerque, NM, October 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Pivot VFX has named Pixar veteran David Tart Animation Director. In addition to serving as Animation Director, David will also head up the Story Department.

David has over 20 years experience animating and directing CG feature animation as well as experience in stop-motion and 2D animation. David’s professional resume includes work as an animator, animation supervisor, and animation director at Blue Sky Studios, Disneytoon Studios, DNA Studios, Prana Studios, Wild Brain, Ettamogah Studios, and Janimation.

After beginning his career on the stop-motion animated ABC television series “Bump in the Night,” David joined Pixar Animation Studios where his credits include, Finding Nemo,Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, For the Birds, and Monsters, Inc. David helped develop curriculum and train new animators for Pixar’s newly established “Pixar University” and collaborated with the technical staff in the development of a number of animation tools.

David has lectured and taught animation worldwide. He developed and maintained the 3D animation curriculum at the Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark. David’s most recent project, the short film “The Story of Animation,” has been been selected to screen at a number of international film festivals including KLIK, Zlin, Radiance, TAAFI, New York Children’s Film Festival, Anima Mundi, among others and recently took first prize at San Francisco’s Spring Festival (ASIFA) for Best Commissioned Film and Funniest Film.

Tart’s involvement in education and the community fits perfectly with Pivot’s company culture.

His filmography includes Robots, The Ant Bully, Tinkerbell, The Three Little Pigs, Tortoise V. Hare, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the upcoming Dorothy of Oz, along with several award winning commercials.
