Crazy Hair Makeovers Bring Smiles to Kids with Illness

Mission Viejo, CA, October 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Children with life-threatening medical conditions received crazy hair makeovers as part of their recent mAAgic flight℠ experience on September 21 and 22. The kids got the star treatment from Mission Viejo-based Crazy Hair Company, including hair styling, stenciling, makeup and lots of post-makeover photos.

The kids attending the annual vacation experience were flown to Orlando with their families to stay at Give Kids The World Village® in Orlando for a week of festivities and fun. As the children arrived at the airport, Crazy Hair Company owner Joy Brandel and volunteers provided the children with crazy hair makeovers to kick off the celebration as they waited for their bags. Then they were off to Give Kids The World Village® to settle in and get ready for the week's events. The following night, Joy provided more crazy hair hairstyles for the kids at the massive luau-themed party in the Village, which also had games, food, and dance music.

The kids gushed about their new hair, and parents were ecstatic that their kids were so happy. Brandel let them get creative and choose whatever hairstyle they wanted, with options like hair color, glitter, gel, stenciling and accessories. Almost everyone wanted a Mickey Mouse image stenciled into their hair, in addition to the princess looks and colorful mohawks. Brandel made sure that even the kids who had lost their hair were able to get styled with glitter, stenciling and makeup. One child was severely disabled and unable to speak, but after seeing her makeover in the mirror, she smiled back at Joy.

Brandel said, "This event was unbelievable! The kids had so much fun! Their faces just lit up when they looked in the mirror.” The event included an interactive mirror voiced by a volunteer hidden a few feet away. The kids would check themselves out and the "mirror" would compliment their new styles. "For these kids, a lot of things are out of their control. The hairstyling was great because they got to have something exactly how they wanted it. And the parents were so happy to see their kids look so excited."
