Propane Dehydrogenation Ventures Stimulated by Low-Cost Feedstock Derived from Shale Gas
Second part of Intratec's report unveils a different process that can profit on the advent of the shale gas in the US.
Houston, TX, October 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Intratec Solutions LLC (www.intratec.us), a Houston publisher and chemical process consulting firm, continues the research started in the Propylene Production via Propane Dehydrogenation report and publishes the part 2. It presents the economic analysis based on a plant fully integrated with a petrochemical complex and capable of producing 590 kta of polymer grade propylene using a technology similar to the Lummus CATOFIN®.
According to the report, some established companies, including Dow Chemical and Enterprise Products, are installing Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) plants to take advantage of shale gas, the fastest growing source of low-cost gas in the US. This development provides a high propane availability, which minimizes its cost and leads to a feedstock advantage to plants erected in the United States.
In Middle East, the propane output is expected to be capable of supplying not only domestic needs, but also the demand from China, where many PDH projects are scheduled to go on stream within the next few years.
Along with the United States, both the capital investment and the operating costs are also presented for plants constructed in Brazil and China. The estimated CAPEX for such plant in the US Gulf Coast is USD 492 million, a value lower than China. Nevertheless, the attractiveness of propane dehydrogenation in the US is proven by the calculated internal rate of return of above 30% in the country.
Propylene Production via Propane Dehydrogenation, Part 2 is part of the Technology Economics Program (TEC), and is available at established distribution channels like Amazon.com and HP Magcloud. The publication is also provided in digital format at Intratec's website, at an introductory price of US$ 829.
