Park Hyatt Saigon Welcomes Back to the Stage -- Mary Beth Ancheta
A gifted musician performing live in Park Lounge six nights a week.
Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, October 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Park Hyatt Saigon is excited to welcome back the talented, Mary Beth Ancheta. A Canadian singer, songwriter, composer and pianist, Ancheta’s individual sound has proven to be extremely versatile due to her many musical influences. Her artistry is demonstrated through unique melodies, intuitively mixing and matching musical compilations.
Growing up in Hamilton, Ontario, Ancheta taught piano at the Ontario Conservatory of Music where she attended McMaster University obtaining her B.A. in Music. At the early age of 15, she performed in an original band called, The Misunderstood, playing alongside groups like, The Killjoys, The Walk and All Good Children. By 1995, the group had recorded an EP short album where the song, “I Wish”, was heard on a variety of radio stations and on Canada’s longest running show, Citytv’s Fashion Television.
Relocating to Vancouver, Ancheta started her own recording studio and an electronica project called, Transientworld. Their 2004 release, “All Things Transient”, included two songs that won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. The group garnered much attention in film and television with over 50 song placements in such shows as, America’s Next Top Model, Continuum, Sony Memory Stick Commercials and The L Word. Their music was also featured in the Independent film, "Everyone", which won the Golden Zenith Award at the Montreal Film Festival.
During her time with The Misunderstood, she was influenced by British Pop music but has since broadened her musical repertoire to groove based soul music, spanning from Aretha Franklin to early Hip Hop. Compelled to express her own individuality, Ancheta came out with a self-produced solo album, “Live Life”. It showcases an artist coming of age, melding British Pop, Jazz, Funk, Lounge and Trip-Hop, with a little bit of Soul.
Living in Bangkok for 2 months, Ancheta worked on a new project called, Montre Echo. In 2009, she released another collaboration entitled, “The Near Forever”, with co-conspirator and Grammy nominated pianist Geoffrey Keezer. Ancheta has since toured internationally throughout Europe, North America, and South East Asia, sharing the stage with some of the world’s great artists such as, Bjork, Mute Math, Interpol, Helmet, John Mayer and Arctic Monkeys. Past notable performances include the Juno Awards Gala Dinner with Carly Rae Jepsen, the Virgin Music Festival and Warped Tour Festival with the Vincent Black Shadow, Opening of the MGM Grand in Macau, Bocephus King in Italy and performing for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
Ancheta returns November 1 for her second engagement at Park Hyatt Saigon. Delivering a unique experience to savvy audiences in Saigon, her performances will include a little bit of everything, from old classics to a few modern twists.
