Basalite Concrete Products Annual Masonry Event a Success
Trowel Contest Draws over 300 attendees and 100 masons compete for awards and bragging rights.
Dixon, CA, October 05, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Masons from across California participated in Basalite Concrete Product’s 6th Annual Fastest Trowel on the Block Competition, held at the Basalite concrete plant yard in Dixon, Ca. The event is held in celebration of the craft of masonry.
300 people attended this event and over 100 masons participated in the contest. Masonry teams had to complete as much as possible of a 24-foot long wall of concrete masonry units during a 20-minute round, using standard masonry practices and hand tools. Each team used the same weight block and the same mortar, supplied by Basalite.
Taking first place in the overall competition was Keith White of Frazier Masonry. His team accurately placed 95 blocks in the designated time period. The team was awarded $2000 for this successful endeavor. Second place went to the team led by Robert Elizable of McCurley and Day Masonry in Fresno, who took home $1000 for their efforts, and the 3rd place prize went to Alfonso Vasquez of Diablo Valley Masonry, Sacramento, who received $500.
Additional competitions included a Senior Division for masons over the age of 55. The winner of this category was Robert Close of Townsend and Schmidt Masonry, Sacramento. Apprentice Skills Challenges were also held.
In addition to cheering on their favorite teams, attendees enjoyed an afternoon of food, a live band, and fun events for kids.
