Over 300 Internet Christians Meet in Person at First-Time-Ever Event in Mexico City
Global Media Outreach and YWAM Bring People Together via E-mail Technology.
Campbell, CA, October 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Today, Global Media Outreach (GMO), the leading, online mission ministry at www.globalmediaoutreach.com and Youth With A Mission International (YWAM) at www.ywam.org, announced that over 300 online Christians met in person at a first-time event in Mexico City on August 25, 2012.
“This was the first time in history people made a decision to accept Jesus Christ online and were then able to meet face-to-face at a celebration in Mexico City,” states Walt Wilson, founder and chairman of Global Media Outreach.
How this First-Time, Christian Event Occurred
Six weeks prior to the event, GMO began sending e-mail invitations to Mexican residents who made a decision to accept Jesus Christ at GMO’s gospel websites such as Jesus2020.com.
“After sending over 12,000 e-mail invitations with an average open rate of 18.49%, 500 people responded and over 300 people actually attended the event,” states Michelle Diedrich, GMO Chief Marketing Officer. “The campaign was very successful, and it is a clear example of how using technology with real, human interactions can make positive changes happen.”
The Results Help Hundreds of New Christians
Over 300 people of all ages attended the free event at 1:00 p.m. where they enjoyed food, drinks, games, music, preaching, and much more for over two hours.
“By combining GMO’s technology and our connections to pastors on the ground, hundreds of people in Mexico who were once alone and online looking for answers, now know other, local Christians they can turn to for prayer, sharing and support,” states Matt Whitlock, Director of The Tribe, a ministry of YWAM international. “The celebration was a huge success, and we are making plans for more, Christian events like this worldwide.”
