Founding Artistic Director Maia Knispel Returns to Out of Hand Theater with a New Original Show After Touring the UK to Rave Reviews
Atlanta, GA, October 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Founding Artistic Director Maia Knispel returns to Atlanta and to Out of Hand Theater with her new show Titus Clown. Ms. Knispel has been in the UK for the past two years completing a Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Exeter. While there, she and her husband, stage director Tyler Owens, created an original 3-person clown show based on Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus. The production toured the UK to rave reviews. Renowned Shakespeare scholar Peter Thomson said this about the production, “Titus Clown is a highly original piece of physical theatre. There is little doubt that it will make a major impact. It’s remarkable enough to make a reputation.” Maia Knispel works in the Big Apple Circus’ Clown Care Unit and teaches courses in physical theatre and clown.
Washington-based actor and theater maker Zachary Magan will reprise his original role and Atlanta native Stephanie Friedman joins the cast. Jeffrey Zwartjes is designing the set and Blake Myers, set dresser for the hit television series The Walking Dead, is designing the numerous blood effects.
