Ward Leonard Electric, a Connecticut-Based Small Business, is Building Motor Controllers for the Navy's Newest Ships
Electrical-Mechanical Motor Controllers for the Navy
Thomaston, CT, July 11, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Ward Leonard Electric announced it won several new design and production contracts for the Navy's newest ship programs including the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), CVN-78-the Navy's newest aircraft carrier-and DDG-1000-the newest destroyer totaling more than $7 million dollars for the production of military grade motor controllers and electric motors.
“We have invested an enormous amount of resources in modernizing our facility and staying on the cutting edge of new military technology, especially with our introduction of solid state communications into our automatic bus transfer switches (ABTs) and electro-mechanical controls.” said Anthony Butler the Director of Sales at Ward Leonard Electric.
Ward Leonard is currently expanding its product line into heavy industry and oil rig equipment where extremely rugged equipment is necessary.
“Ward Leonard designed equipment naturally fits on oil rigs because military specifications meet or exceed those of most commercial applications. We have been very successful with custom control houses and drives,” said Peter Morehouse, VP of Sales and Marketing. “We are experiencing double digit growth in our commercial cross over business and see no end in sight.”
Ward Leonard Electric has hired dozens of new employees in the last 12 months to meet the demands of its new expansion at its 140,000 square foot production plant located in Thomaston, Connecticut.
