HKSI Appoints Mrs Edith Ngan Chan as Chief Executive
With more than 20-year of experience in the financial services industry and not-for-profit organisation, Mrs Edith Ngan Chan will take over the Chief Executive position on 20 October, 2012.
Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., October 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI) announced today that Mr S F Wong will retire from the Chief Executive position and will leave the Institute on 31 October, 2012.
Mr Anthony Muh, Chairman of the HKSI, said, “We want to thank S F for his tremendous contributions to the Institute. During his 3 1/2 year tenure at the HKSI, he has undertaken many new initiatives, including the launching of the Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM) qualification for the private wealth management industry and the re-branding of the Institute.”
Effective 20 October, 2012, Mrs Edith Ngan Chan will take over as the Chief Executive of the HKSI.
“We are delighted to have secured the service of Mrs Chan. Edith brings a unique blend of expertise from the professional, commercial, and not-for-profit sectors with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry,” said Mr Muh.
Having spent her earlier career with prestigious organisations such as the Swire Group, Price Waterhouse (UK), KPMG (HK), and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong, Edith has held senior management positions for the region with international groups like Invesco, Principal, and ABN AMRO Bank in Hong Kong. In addition to her strong background in asset management and administration in many jurisdictions, Mrs Chan has direct experience in education, membership, and public service operations from her tenure as Executive Director of the Asia Society Hong Kong Center prior to joining the HKSI.
Mrs Chan is also an active member of the community. During her chairmanship of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association, Edith sat on the Committee on Unit Trust and Investor Education Advisory Committee of the SFC as well as the Operations Review Committee of the Mandatory Provident Fund Authority. Currently, she is a convenor of the HKSAR Government Financial Reporting Review Panel and a member of the Environment and Conservation Fund Investment Committee. Her non-financial public services include board member of Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the Mentally Handicapped and Stanford Alumni Association (USA), as well as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Christian School (HK).
Mrs Chan graduated from Stanford University, USA (BSc IEEM) and is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW). She is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountant and a fellow of the Institute of Directors.
Mrs Chan will work alongside the Board of the HKSI to further develop the examination, training, events, and membership arms of the Institute, and to raise the standard of professional competency in the financial industry.
