WGBH Teachers’ Domain Signs Agreement to Deliver Rich Multimedia Science Content Through the WeAreTeachers Knowledge Marketplace

Online community can now access Teachers’ Domain collections that include over 1,000 science and history resources.

Austin, TX, July 11, 2007 --(PR.com)-- WeAreTeachers, developer of a new online teaching, learning, and business network, and WGBH Boston Teachers’ Domain have partnered to provide WeAreTeachers subscribers with instant access to high quality, multimedia content for teachers and students. Teachers’ Domain is a digital library of over 1,000 multimedia resources for classroom use and independent study, and offers teachers media-rich tools to present science concepts to students in high-impact, engaging and interactive ways. The addition of Teachers’ Domain’s high-quality resources will provide the WeAreTeachers community with valuable science content. WeAreTeachers will incorporate Teachers’ Domain resources into its knowledge circles bringing like-minded teachers together to collaborate and leverage Web 2.0 resources, including blogs, forums, and video communications to share best practice classroom strategies.

Harnessing the award-winning public television programming produced by WGBH Boston, Teachers’ Domain provides access to classroom-ready video clips and interactive activities from programs such as Nova, Zoom, and A Science Odyssey. Teachers’ Domain also includes multimedia resources from NASA, the National Park Service, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Smithsonian Institution, and many other reliable sources. These resources have been specially adapted for use in the classroom. Teachers will find correlations to state and national education standards, lesson plans, discussion questions, background essays increasing the teacher’s content knowledge, and customization features to help them introduce Teachers’ Domain multimedia resources into lessons.

According to Sandy Fivecoat, CEO of WeAreTeachers, "We are delighted to partner with WGBH Boston and Teachers’ Domain as an affiliate member of the WeAreTeachers network. The outstanding science and history content from Teachers’ Domain, and the innovative, video-based instruction, is an excellent example of the kind of quality content we will support on this network."

"Today's classrooms demand visual materials characterized by relatively short length, limited use of lectures, interactivity, vivid graphics, and contemporary sound," says Denise Blumenthal, Director of Educational Productions at WGBH, "The partnership with WeAreTeachers provides a wonderfully contextualized experience for teachers to quickly and reliably access our resources on Teachers’ Domain. We think that our science and history content will be a valuable resource to the WeAreTeachers community."
