Carol Beaugard to Star in "Plaza Suite"
Well-Known Radio DJ and Bluegrass Artist Stars in the Popular Neil Simon Comedy in Rhinebeck, NY. She will also be seen on Television in NBC’s "SMASH" and the CBS Crime Drama "Golden Boys."
New York, NY, October 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Well known radio personality and bluegrass artist Carol Beaugard has forged a new career as an actress and is returning to the stage this month to star in the popular Neil Simon hit comedy “Plaza Suite.” She portrays "Muriel Tate," the awestruck housewife wooed by her former high school boyfriend, now famous Hollywood producer on the stage of The Center for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck, N.Y. October 19 through November 4. Weekly performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, with Sunday matinees at 3 pm.
Beaugard is also breaking into film and television and will be seen this fall in background appearances on the NBC musical series “SMASH” and the new CBS crime drama “Golden Boys.” In addition she has starred in industrial films and is pursuing work professionally in television, film, print, and theater.
“I adore radio and bluegrass music but theater was always my first love,” Beaugard explained. “My husband encouraged me to pursue acting after seeing me in my first play after years away from performing. He feels it’s my true calling and I love the thrill of acting on stage and in front of the camera.”
Her next role following “Plaza Suite” will be starring in the holiday musical “A Christmas Carol” where she’ll play all three ghosts (“The Ghost of Christmas Past,” “The Ghost of Christmas Present” and “The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come”). She’ll return to The Center for Performing Arts to appear in the Dickens classic for evening and matinee performances on December 18 through the 23.
Beaugard most recently appeared as the comical Japanese character “Christmas Eve” in “Avenue Q” at the Center and Off-Off Broadway at the 13th Street Repertory Company where she starred as the Queen in the original children’s musical “Rumple Who.” In 2011 her credits also included roles as “Texas, the Kit Kat Girl” in “Cabaret” for the Muddy Water Players at Museum Village in Monroe, NY, as “Peggy” in “Godspell” at Rhinebeck and as “Gabrielle” in “The Dinner Party” at the Newburgh Actor’s Studio. Prior to her tenure in radio she had worked professionally as an actress touring in summer stock and regional theater with credits including “Flower Drum Song” (Mei Li), “Piaf” (Edith Piaf), “Harvey” (Myrtle Mae Simmons) and more.
Radio fans can hear her work as host of “Lonesome Pine RFD” heard in the New York metro area on 89.1, WFDU-FM and syndicated worldwide on WAMU’s "Bluegrass Country." In December she will be appearing throughout the region with her troupe “The Christmas Carol Trio” performing a program of 17C and 18C carols from England, Ireland, France, Germany and the American Colonies (sung in English, French and German), with narratives explaining the origins of the holiday's traditions and décor.
