Providence, RI, October 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Steven Perry of Altered Reality Entertainment and organizer of Rhode Island Comic Con announced today the most recent guest for the upcoming 2-day media, toy and comic book event. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Walt Simonson is a popular comic book writer and artist whose notable works include The Mighty Thor, X-Factor, The Uncanny X-Men, The New Teen Titans, among many others. Simonson, a convention favorite among fans, will be appearing at Rhode Island Comic Con for the entire weekend.
Following his graduation in 1972 from the Rhode Island-based art school, Simonson has enjoyed a rich 40-year career in creating, writing and drawing comic books for Marvel and DC Comics. In the 90’s, he wrote, penciled and inked almost 20 issues of the Fantastic Four. Beginning in 2000, Simonson moved to primarily DC properties, including Orion and Wonder Woman. Most recently, he wrote a comic book series by Wildstorm based on the World of Warcraft online roleplaying game. The series was co-written by his wife, Louise Simonson.
At Rhode Island Comic Con, running November 3 and 4 at the Rhode Island Convention Center, Simonson will be joined by over 50 celebrity guests from television, animation, gaming, wrestling and the paranormal community. The convention is planning the first New England reunion of the original Battlestar Galactica cast. Other guests include three of the original Power Rangers, Robert Picardo, John DeLancie and Gary Graham from Star Trek, Peter Mayhew from Star Wars and Gil Gerard from Buck Rogers.
Key events of the weekend include SuperCon 2k Video Game Tournament, Magic the Gathering and Pokemon Card Tournaments, as well as several performances by the RKO Army. Panels and Q&A sessions are scheduled throughout the two days with all of the guests. Costume contests are scheduled both days including at the after-parties scheduled at convention sponsors Dave & Busters, Saints and Sinners Lounge and Whiskey Republic. As attendees stroll through over 200 vendors and artist booths, the convention floor will be adorned with cars from some of the most popular movies including Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. Rounding out the events of the weekend is an art auction to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.
Tickets, including VIP passes, for the event are available through Ticketmaster, the Dunkin Donuts Center and will be available at the door. Hours of the show are Saturday 10 to 7 and Sunday 10 to 5. For more information and a full list of guests and events, visit www.ricomiccon.com.
