Children's Author Joins Unusual Writing Competition
Sacramento, CA, October 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Children's book author Jen Barton has entered eBookMall.com’s exciting new spin on the traditional writing contest. At stake in America’s Next Author, the writing world’s version of American Idol, is a grand prize of $5,000. The new contest allows writers to submit one short story and have readers all over the internet vote for their favorite.

The competition is broken into four rounds:

Submissions—Submissions are accepted beginning September 17.

Nominations—From October 9-November 27 readers will have access to authors’ stories and bio pages. Authors can influence voting by garnering support through social media, traditional media and enhancing their bio pages, not to mention having a great story.

Finals— From December 5-December 11 the top twelve (eight from nominations and four wild cards picked by a panel of judges) will face off. Readers will vote for their favorites again. Only the top three advance.

Jury Round—During December 11-December 18 the jury will read the top three submissions and make the final decision, crowning one lucky author America’s Next Author. The grand prize winner and two runners up will be announced on December 18th.

Barton, author of the children’s book, Fiona Thorn and the Carapacem Spell, lives in Rocklin, California with her husband and teenage daughter. You can find more information about her at www.fionathornbook.com or on Twitter @fionathornbook.
