Siesta Key, FL, October 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Book excerpt:
1 human heart + 1 spiked brain, cross in ‘n’ mix breed at a hair past 9:00—purple thumb time, eh? Vicodin worked his damndest to resurrect the spell. The first shard he wore held hours 1 and 2—it tocked in careful whispers the order of how to proceed. He needed to be precise. It was promptly followed by the bits of hours 3, 4, and 5. That’s where the second hand minute was stuck on the stamp of 3 and vividly blotted with a human purple thumb print. He couldn’t remove it. Next, hours 6, 7, 8, he affixed to his chest with hemp. He secured it tightly like a suicide bomber, so he could feel the pressure of rope slightly tearing his skin. At 9 of 10, he glued on the hour hand and permanently affixed it. Lastly the darkest points of 11 and 12, he cut in the shape of pies. Here he smeared a bray of sweat that dripped from his creased brow as a seal. His eyes glow an unnatural yellow as he rolled them momentarily to the back of his head, sparking for electricity.
Purple Mike is a beautifully written story with a strong, positive message about the ill effects of drug abuse, employing the illegal substances themselves as main characters to drive this unique and telling storyline. It's a modern version of Dr. Seuss' "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" with Purple Mike ably stepping in as the Grinch, and Anyplace, USA competently filling in as Whoville. While the main character Purple Mike (a.k.a. LSD) is designed for maximum destruction, he somehow finds his human heart just in time to save Anyplace from the chaos he created.
Allow Purple Mike and his friends, Pot, Pill and Powder take you on a taboo journey into the ins and outs of getting high. Meet the characters by reading excerpts of their Interviews: http://purplemike.com/.
