Joota and Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) Announce Strategic Partnership
To empower communities through a new, social media model.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Joota and MDeC announced a strategic partnership, to empower communities through a new social network model, as part of Digital Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to drive a vibrant digital economy by 2020.
Joota is an interest-based, social media platform that makes the web more useful by allowing users to curate and access relevant content in a simpler way. Centered around content, Joota is different from other social networks which links people via people.
The partnership announcement was witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia at the 24th MSC Malaysia Implementation Council Meeting (ICM) and 15th International Advisory Panel (IAP). The partnership is in support of Digital Malaysia’s goals to empower Malaysia’s underprivileged community, SMEs and youth in order to capture the untapped demand for digital products and services that exist in the market. The project also aims to unlock the entrepreneurship potential of IT-savvy youth and help boost productivity of SMEs by facilitating access to valuable content that is relevant and timely.
“There is a strong need to enhance the digital entrepreneurial skills of our underprivileged communities and SMEs to help them develop new sources of income and improve their quality of life. The partnership will empower various communities in ways that can impact their lives. For example, a Rural Internet Center or Pusat Internet Desa officer can now use Joota to curate content from anywhere on the internet that is relevant to each individual in the community. In the context of education, a school or university student can curate and connect with other fellow students and teachers based on interest areas,” said Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, CEO of MDeC.
“We are proud to be selected as a strategic partner to MDeC in driving the vision of enhancing the livelihood of the rakyat (see: nation) via the digital economy. We will be working closely with MDeC in crafting out the implementation plans of this partnership.” said Ashran Ghazi, Co-Founder and COO of Joota.
He added, “Joota also has a Content Partnership Program that will enable digital content creators to generate income from their digital content. This will create a more sustainable eco-system for the digital economy. Details of this program are being finalized and will be announced once it is ready.”
Also being introduced is a Joota Entrepreneurship Program that is aimed primarily at IT-savvy youths to nurture and harness their social media skills into value added propositions for the community while making a sustainable living out of it.
Joota believes in the philosophy of sharing, collaborating, and harnessing the power of common interests. If you wish to deploy Joota in your community, please contact the Joota team: contactus@joota.com.
