Michigan Lawyers Weekly Editor Todd Berg Receives Wade H. McCree Jr., Honorable Mention Award
Farmington Hills, MI, July 12, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Todd Berg, Esq., editor for Michigan Lawyers Weekly, was recently honored with the Michigan State Bar Association’s Wade H. McCree, Jr., Honorable Mention award.
Berg was presented the award for his story “Fightin’ Words,” published in Michigan Lawyers Weekly on September 12, 2006. In the article, he covered some of the heated and personal exchanges that occurred among the Michigan Supreme Court justices in their written opinions during the 2006-2007 term of court. The McCree Awards recognize writers who have enhanced the public’s understanding of the legal system; disclosed practices and procedures that are in need of correction; and/or encouraged or promoted legislative efforts to modernize laws and courts.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the Michigan State Bar Association in the same capacity as some of Michigan’s premier legal writers,” said Berg. “This topic was significant not only to the justices of the Supreme Court and the legal community, but also to the public. We felt it was necessary for people to be aware of what their elected officials are doing, and it seems the State Bar of Michigan agreed.”
Berg began working with Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2004 and was named editor for the publication in 2005. Prior to joining Michigan Lawyers Weekly, he handled death penalty cases for the Death Penalty Trial Assistance Division of the Illinois State Appellate Defender.
