Rescue Chocolate Donates to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center All November
New York, NY, October 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center has been named the November 2012 beneficiary for Rescue Chocolate, the vegan chocolate company which donates 100% of its profits to various animal rescue organizations.
Founded in 1939, St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center is dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. Its services to the community include pet adoption, animal assisted therapy, humane education, dog training, and pet loss support. The Center operates animal shelters in Madison and North Branch, N.J. and a Dog Training and Behavior School in Madison.
Rescue Chocolate founder and owner, Sarah Gross, said she is happy to partner with a group that has been around for so long doing such vital work. “It’s due to the volunteers and staff at places like St. Hubert’s that we are slowly but surely reducing the number of homeless pets in this country,” she said.
Her company offers a product line of kosher and vegan chocolate bars and truffles. The bars are made with organic and fair-trade chocolate.
Each flavor is named after an issue important in the animal rescue world. For example, there are chocolate bars called Peanut Butter Pit Bull (which aims to rehabilitate the image of this misunderstood breed), Pick Me! Pepper (urging people to pick out their next four-legged companion at a shelter rather than a pet store), Foster-iffic Peppermint (pointing out the benefits of fostering a homeless animal even if one can’t ultimately adopt), The Fix (emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering), and Mission Feral Fig (highlighting the humane management of feral cat colonies).
Gross cautions that while sales ultimately benefit the animals, her chocolate products are only for human consumption.
Rescue Chocolate was founded in January 2010, and is based in Brooklyn, New York. Other monthly beneficiaries have included the No-Kill Advocacy Center, the House Rabbit Society, and In Defense of Animals.
