Campbell Law Professor Elected to North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys Board of Directors
Professor Amy Flanary-Smith to Serve on Board of Directors for Three Year Term
Raleigh, NC, October 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Campbell Law School (http://law.campbell.edu) has announced that Campbell Law Assistant Professor Amy Flanary-Smith has been elected to the North Carolina Society of Health Care Attorneys (NCSHCA) Board of Directors. Flanary-Smith was elected to a three-year term during the NCSHCA annual meeting Friday, Sept. 28, in Chapel Hill.
An expert in legal discourse and advocacy, Flanary-Smith serves as the director of Campbell Law’s Legal Research & Writing Program, where she develops a comprehensive curriculum and leads weekly program instruction. Each year, several of Raleigh's most outstanding practicing attorneys are selected to teach in the program, which allows students to learn about legal discourse in a small class setting while capitalizing on Campbell Law's historic strengths of practical skills and compassionate advocacy.
An experienced health law attorney, Flanary-Smith has both litigation and transactional experience. She has represented health care providers in all stages of litigation, from district court to the Supreme Court of North Carolina, and she frequently shares her expertise and consulting skills with North Carolina hospitals and physicians. Her scholarly interests include the intersections of patient competency, capacity and consent with health care policy.
A non-profit corporation, the NCSHCA seeks to provide professional education and additional services to North Carolina attorneys with an interest in health care law. For more information, visit the NCSHCA website at http://www.ncshca.org/.
Quote: “I am pleased and honored to be able to work with the Society leadership for the next three years,” said Flanary-Smith. “Past directors have fostered collegiality, professionalism, and education among health lawyers in North Carolina, and I look forward to continuing their work.”
