Minerva Releases Complete Solution for Next-Generation Television Services Over Cable Networks
Orlando, FL, October 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- New hybrid Cable-IP solution, featuring Minerva iTVFusion 5 and select third-party components, enables Cable operators to offer advanced television services, including whole-home DVR, cloud-based VOD and multi-screen navigation and playback, while preserving investment in legacy infrastructure
Minerva Networks, a leading provider of software platforms for the delivery of television services to connected devices, today announced general availability of a complete hybrid cable IP solution. Built on Minerva iTVFusion 5 and certified third-party components, the new solution enables cable MSOs to blend their traditional QAM linear content with new IP services like multi-screen video delivery, dual-screen navigation, cloud-based video on demand and whole-home DVR.
“Cable operators need to offer enhanced television services while preserving their investment in legacy infrastructure,” said Mauro Bonomi, CEO at Minerva. “MSOs can now utilize the new Minerva-powered solution to smoothly and cost-effectively transition to a more flexible and powerful service delivery environment.”
IP-Centric Solution For Next Generation Services
The new hybrid Cable-IP solution blends traditional QAM-delivered content with IP-based video streams to provide a high-quality television service over existing cable networks. Cable operators can deliver a broad programming line-up, whether linear, on demand, or Internet-sourced, to multiple screens through a unified user interface. Key features like whole-home DVR, restart TV, and pause live TV can be offered cost-effectively to subscribers equipped with hybrid Cable-IP set-top boxes. Minerva iTVFusion 5, at the core of the new solution, is fully integrated with cloud-delivered VOD services. Thanks to new embedded QoE monitoring tools, operators can proactively identify, diagnose and correct video quality problems.
“We see strong interest from MSOs to embrace IP technologies to augment traditional TV services,” said Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “In combination with the Minerva platform, Entone’s hybrid set-top-boxes enable a highly differentiated service that strengthens the subscriber experience.”
The new solution has been successfully deployed in both North America and Latin America.
“With the new Minerva solution we are moving into a realm of service expansion and flexibility that previously was only available to the largest cable companies,” said Darryl Chandler, General Manager at Source Cable Limited. “We are able to leverage our existing cable infrastructure to enhance our service portfolio with a richer television service that will deepen the relationship with our customers.”
