Piggly Wiggly Signs on as Title Sponsor for Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown

Charleston, SC, October 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Piggly Wiggly has just signed a contract with Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina to become the title sponsor of the Piggly Wiggly Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown. The event will take place November 16th & 17th at the Lookout Pavilion at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. “We are thrilled to have Piggly Wiggly on board. Their name brings such a high level of credibility to the event and we truly appreciate The Pig’s support to help in the fight against hunger in the Lowcountry,” states Matt Galvin, Special Events Manager at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. About the event
Teams will compete in 3 categories; Wings, Ribs and Pork Butts. Prizes include up to $6,000 in cash, one of a kind trophies and the Grand Champion will be asked to come back in March to be featured in the BB& T Charleston Wine & Food Festival at Rigs, Pigs and Swigs event. Piggly Wiggly Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown is open to the public. The price of admission is $10.00. Guests are encouraged to donate non perishable food items that will benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank. Donations will be accepted throughout the weekend and guests who donate 5 canned goods will receive $5.00 off their price of admission. Once inside guests will have a chance to purchase sampling cards for $15.00 on Friday from 6pm to 8pm to taste and vote on the competitors wings. On Saturday, guests can purchase a pork butt sampling card from noon to 2pm to taste and vote on the various styles of pork butt. The people’s choice winner will be announced at the awards ceremony on Saturday at 4pm. Additional food and beverages will be available for purchase. Entertainment will be provided throughout the day as well as a children’s area.
