Rentricity Wins Cleantech Open Northeast Regional Competition and Advances to National Finals
Company is First New York-Based Firm to Compete in Final Round at 2012 Global Forum in San Jose, Calif.
New York, NY, October 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Rentricity Inc., a renewable energy company that generates electricity from untapped pressure in drinking water pipes, was selected as one of four winners from the 2012 Cleantech Open Northeast Regional Competition, and will advance to the Global Forum and judging in San Jose this November.
By winning this competition, Rentricity becomes the first New York-based startup to advance this far in the Cleantech Open. "We are honored to have been selected as one of the four finalists in the Northeast to advance in this prestigious event," said Frank Zammataro, Rentricity Founder, President, & CEO. "I am especially proud to represent my hometown and New York State in the Global Forum,” he added.
Rentricity is a recipient of funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), which continues to support the Company’s commercialization of its clean-energy technology and affiliation with NYC ACRE incubator. “We congratulate Rentricity, one of NYSERDA’s incubator graduates, for its recognition from the Cleantech Open,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO, NYSERDA. “Rentricity’s success demonstrates once again that innovation is alive and well in New York State. The Cleantech Open is the premier startup competition for renewable energy companies. For the Northeast Regional competition, 77 different companies applied initially, 40 of which were selected as Semifinalists. “With the largest applicant pool and group of semifinalists, and the most rigorous training schedule in Cleantech Open Northeast history, Rentricity is well-prepared to compete for the national Cleantech Open prize,” said Alexandra Adler, Northeast Regional Director of Cleantech Open. "Cleantech Open Northeast has made a strong effort to grow our presence in New York this year, and Rentricity's advancement to the Global Forum is a great representation of our successful geographic expansion."
Rentricity is one of the top four companies chosen by an elite panel of judges to represent the northeast region. Rentricity will compete with 21 companies nationwide at the Global Forum on November 8th and 9th at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose, California.
