New Griots Storytelling Institute Summer Camp Show

The Griots Storytelling Institute of Wichita, Kansas is sponsoring its fourth annual Cultural Arts Summer Day Camp which culminates in an new original stage production on Saturday, July 14.

Wichita, KS, July 13, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Griots Storytelling Institute is producing an original stage show for 2007 with the theme, “Stepping into The Light: Values in the Village.” The show will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, July 14 at the Brooks Middle School Auditorium. Admission is free although donations will be gladly accepted.

The production is the culminating project of the Griots’ 4th Annual Cultural Arts Storytelling Summer Day Camp and displays the talents and creativity of over fifty children aged six to sixteen from Wichita and beyond. The show features the children performing African and Latin-American drumming styles and dance, original music and dialogue by local composers and writers, visual artistry, colorful costumes, and, of course, storytelling and other recitations.

The camp is made possible through the generous funding contributions of The City of Wichita, The Wichita Community Foundation, The Kansas Arts Commission, and other donors and community partnerships.
