Corporate Volunteer Council Honors Storage Village’s Commitment to Community
North Bethesda, MD, October 24, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County recognized Storage Village’s exemplary commitment to community service and volunteerism by awarding Storage Village it’s prestigious CVC Community Service Award for 2012.
The Corporate Volunteer Council is a non-profit organization that works to educate businesses on how to partner with and support non-profit organizations. They fill their mission through the creation of successful volunteer and charitable programs that positively impact the business, its employees, and the local community.
Each year the Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County selects three outstanding businesses to highlight with the CVC Community Service Award. These three businesses -- one small, one mid-size and one large -- are shining examples of corporate citizenship in Montgomery County.
“I am particularly proud that Storage Village has received its 2nd Community Service Award from the CVC, as I believe that meaningful support to the community is an important measure of a business’s success. Community service is one of the core values of Storage Village; each of our locations continually strives to give back to the area that they serve.”
- L. Goldberg, President, Storage Village Self Storage
Storage Village emphasizes community service as a fundamental pillar of their organization. It is one of their three core values, the others being excellence and integrity. The company leads by example, paying each of its full time staff members to donate 8 hours of his or her per month to the non-profit organization of the employee’s choosing. Supporting their community, Storage Village employees can be found mentoring children, feeding the hungry, and making sure the disabled have access to the medical equipment they need.
They furthermore encourage their tenant community to contribute through year round drives that assist their neighbors who need it most. Onsite is a year round canned food collection center where new tenants can get their first month for $1 with the donation of 3 cans of food, which are brought monthly to each location’s local food pantry. They also hold seasonal drives, and are hosting a coat drive throughout the month of October. When not hosting a season-specific campaign, Storage Village purchases and sells water bottles, donating all money from the water bottle sales to non-profits that serve our community.
Storage Village is proud to express their gratitude for the community they are part of by being a leader in service and volunteerism. They invite anyone in need of extra space or with items to donate to stop by their neighborhood Storage Village Self Storage location.
