Artlightenment Festival All About Art, Artists and the Art of Existence

Artlightenment is a unique art show in its concept to help artists. This year, it is bringing that home with its theme: art, artists and the art of existence.

Nashville, TN, October 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Now in its fourth year, Artlightenment has everything from film, paintings and photography to fashion, and a theatre and cabaret evening. The festival will open in the evening of Wednesday, November 7th and will run until Sunday, November 11th and will be held at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville.

Robyn Morshead, creator of the festival, was pleased to announce the judges, artists and filmmakers for the showcase this year. She said, “We have very prestigious judges in this year’s Artlightenment, and participants will be getting attention from the best Nashville has in the industry.” The two major awards are the Artlightenment awards for Best Film and Best Art.

The film judges this year are: Mike Montgomery, Co-President of SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Arts); Karen Carlson, a voting member of the Academy and member of the Jackson Film House as well as TV and film actress with appearances in shows such as I Dream of Jeannie, Starsky and Hutch, The Waltons, The Incredible Hulk and Days of Our Lives; Deborah Gordon, producer of the 48-hour film project; Carla Christina Contreras, Secretary and Treasurer of the Board of SAG-AFTRA and who also has over 25 years experience in acting and directing and Jaz Dorsey, founder of the African American Playwrights Exchange and the Foreign Language Acting Group.

The festival opens Wednesday, Nov 7, with its theatre and cabaret night, organized by Jaz Dorsey.

Thursday evening, the Metro Arts Commission will present a special seminar on “Setting up an Artists’ Profile in the Nashville Arts Registry.” This will be followed by the film festival.

Friday evening will feature a talk by Daniel Lir and Bayou Bennett of Dolce Films, along with the second half of the film festival.

The visual art show opens Saturday at noon and continues until 10pm. From 1-3pm, Marlene Rose, famous for her cast glass artwork, along with Karen Lavender will give a talk and present “From Fire,” a documentary about Rose’s art. The Artlightenment Art Party will be kicked off at 6:00pm, followed by a presentation at 7:00pm by Curt Hahn: “The Making of the Movie ‘Deadline’.” Artlightenment Awards will then be presented by Deborah Gordon for film and Marlene Rose for art. The evening concludes with a fashion show presented by Elisabeth Donaldson of Monarch Clothing.

The art show continues Sunday with seminars for artists delivered by Owen York about the promotion and sale of art as well as “your creative ability.”

The featured artists of the 2014 festival are Marlene Rose, Owen York, Elisabeth Donaldson and Christopher Gatelock. Other artists include Barbara Hodges, Barry Biddle, Carla Christina Contreras, Christine Buchanan, Elaine Allen, Ella Buntin, Haidir Nakkash, Holly Carmichael, Ivey Welton, Jamie Diorio, Kirk Seufert, Leroy Hodges, Lucille Femine, Lucy Arvin, Mark Cowden, Massood Taj, Oscar Ayarzagoitia, Robyn Morshead, Sally Matsukawa, Thomas Royalty and Yvette Renee Parrish.

Featured filmmakers include Curt Hahn, creator of “The Making of the Movie ‘Deadline,’” Karen Lavender, an LA filmmaker, and Melissa Maxwell from New York. Other filmmakers include Barry Mc Alister, Bayou Bennett, Bob Pondillo, Brent Nelson, Carla Christina Contreras, Casey Carroll, Chris Ranker, Daniel Lir, Gary Ravenscroft, Jennifer Bonior, Karen Lavender, Logan Winton, Melissa Maxwell, Passion, Raeanne Rubenstein, Raquel Zemtsov, Robyn Morshead, Sal Rinella, Varda Hardy, Warren Smythe and Will Weaver.
