Utah Adopts Amber Alert GPS’ Technology to Issue AMBER Alerts to Public

The State of Utah becomes the ninth state to adopt the LEAP system (operated by Amber Alert GPS) to send out AMBER Alerts. The Law Enforcement Alerting Portal (“LEAP”) is an internet-based alerting portal designed to notify the public immediately and reduce response time when an Amber Alert is sent out.

South Jordan, UT, October 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The State of Utah’s AMBER Alert office has announced they will implement a new alerting system for the issuance of AMBER Alerts to the public. Amber Alert GPS, a leader in child tracking and family safety, will provide its technology to the State of Utah to issue these alerts via the LEAP portal at no cost.

The Law Enforcement Alerting Portal (“LEAP”) is an internet-based alerting portal designed to notify the public immediately and reduce response time when an Amber Alert is sent out. Utah became the ninth state to implement Amber Alert GPS’ LEAP system, a decision made after a recent test of the Utah’s alerting system revealed certain alerting deficiencies. Efficient, quick and reliable, LEAP will be the number one source for AMBER Alerts for the public in Utah. The Department of Public Safety Communications Center in Salt Lake City will oversee public AMBER alerting activities via the LEAP system, supplementing the primary AMBER alerting activities of the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification.

“We all know that time is crucial when a child’s safety is at risk,” said Amber Alert GPS CEO Carol Colombo. “We are excited to provide this free service to our AMBER Alert partners in our home state of Utah and to work together with Utah’s law enforcement to help make the world a safer place for kids.”

In addition to the State of Utah, Amber Alert GPS provides the LEAP system for free to the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Missouri and Montana. Law enforcement agencies in the states using the LEAP system have a 100% recovery rate for all children for whom an AMBER Alert has been issued.

Utah state residents and interested people across the country can sign up to receive AMBER Alerts via computer or cell phone at www.amberalert.com. For more on Amber Alert GPS please visit www.amberalertgps.com.
