New York, NY, October 26, 2012 --(PR.com)-- iGavel Auctions’ associate seller Nye & Company’s Fine & Decorative Arts Auction is now featured on www.iGavelAuctions.com through November 6, 2012. The Nye & Company auction has a broad array of fine art; good English, American and Continental furniture; lots of silver, jewelry, watches and collectibles.
A beautifully patinated Tiffany table lamp with stained glass shade enhanced with a Greek Key border and acorn finial is the top lot in the upcoming sale.
The Hanley Estate from Ridgefield, Connecticut, consisting of nearly 350 lots, is a broad and interesting group. The furniture, whether English or American, has a warm, nut-brown color and mellow patina. The folding library ladder, diminutive Regency two-drawer chest and armchairs are of note. There are also numerous vintage fountain pens, coral rattles, tin and cast-iron toys, banks, model typewriters and many more pieces.
Audubon is well represented with two elephant folio prints, Ten Woodpeckers and the Glossy Ibis, and more importantly “Quadrupeds of North America,” John James Audubon and John Bachman, New York, 1854, 3 Vol.. All come from three different private collectors in three different states.
The jewelry and silver component of the auction includes unusual and rare pieces. For example, a New York City collection includes a Tiffany and Company sterling silver soup tureen, of impressive size; Whiting, Webster, Durgin and other makers are included. A platinum diamond spray and bow brooch, several diamond rings and other pieces round out the jewelry.
Nye and Company recently relocated to a new and expanded location at 20 Beach Street in Bloomfield, NJ, adjacent to the Garden State Parkway and 20 minutes west of New York City. “It is extremely exciting and encouraging to have finally found a building that is the perfect fit,” said John Nye.
