Sensiotec Demos a Star Trek Tricorder Vital Signs Monitor
Sensiotec presents the Virtual Medical Assistant, the world's First Totally Contact-Free Cardiorespiratory Monitor to the 2012 Partners HealthCare Connected Health Symposium
Atlanta, GA, October 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Founder and CEO of Sensiotec, Robert Arkin, will present the Virtual Medical Assistant, the world's first FDA-cleared, totally non-contact cardiorespiratory monitor on October 26th at the 2012 Partners HealthCare Connected Health Symposium held at the Boston Park Plaza & Towers. The VMA is the world's first truly remote, totally non-contact cardiorespiratory and movement monitor, utilizing a proprietary technology platform that harnesses Ultra-Wideband, a formerly classified military technology.
The VMA combines a point of care device (akin to Star Treks's Tricorder) with Web-based wireless networking. Eliminating the need for leads or patches that touch the skin or pressure pads or sensors that require contact with the body or mattress, the VMA renders patient compliance a nonissue.
The VMA is a dynamic connected care solution with extraordinary levels of scalability that permits thousands of patients to be monitored simultaneously at a fraction of the cost of current monitoring systems. The VMA has received FDA 510(k) Class II clearance and is currently in market trials.
The VMA helps caregivers reduce sickness and death through improved recognition and response to changes in patient condition. "I was motivated to create a connected care solution while caring for my mother who lived several hundred miles away," states Arkin. Arkin received the Atlanta Business Chronicle 2012 Healthcare Heroes Award for Innovation.
