Chukar Cherries Featured in Sea-Tac Airport’s Three New Duty-Free Stores
Duty-free stores to emphasize locally made products building revenue and jobs in Washington State
Seattle, WA, October 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Chukar Cherries’ dried fruits and chocolates have delighted visitors to the Pacific Northwest for more than two decades. However, Chukar’s all natural treats will soon be available to international and domestic travelers due to the opening by Dufry North America LLC of three duty-free and duty-paid stores in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
Beginning in June of 2013, Chukar Cherries will be available at stores in Sea-Tac’s Concourse A, the Central terminal, and at a new 3,500 square-foot store in the South Satellite that will cater to international travelers.
According to Mark Reis, managing director-aviation for the Port of Seattle, “We estimate that over the term of this agreement, these new stores will generate $175 million in sales and at least $50 million in revenue to the port by increasing duty free and retail sales by at least 60 percent. More importantly, the stores themselves will support approximately 85 jobs while supporting employment in numerous local and Washington suppliers of merchandise.”
The new stores will highlight local brands—a boon to Washington manufacturers. “We look forward to showcasing our chocolates and dried fruits alongside some of the finest specialty foods the Pacific Northwest has to offer,” says Tommy Montgomery, Chukar’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Washington brands that will be represented include Seattle Chocolates, Aplets & Cotlets, and Chateau Ste. Michelle wines. Chukar’s offerings will include gifts made from Pacific Northwest dried cherries, 100% natural chocolates, and gourmet cherry sauces.
