Fort Worth's Jeff Bacot Elected President of Greater Fort Worth Writers Group: On The Hole Author Chosen for Creativity and Business Savvy
Former banker Jeff Bacot, now an accomplished author, is the new president of a writers group who support each other through critique, marketing, education, and marketing seminars.
Dallas, TX, October 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Fort Worth based author Jeff Bacot has been elected president of the Greater Fort Worth Writers (GFWW). The organization, comprised of more than 40 members, provides critiques, support, education, and networking to both published and aspiring authors in all genres of writing. The group meets twice a month to encourage the writer’s journey and promote success. Mr. Bacot’s business savvy, creativity and literary talent were cited as reasons for his election as president.
An Arlington native now living in Fort Worth, Jeff is a 1981 graduate of Bowie High School. After earning a double major in political science and business finance at SMU, Mr. Bacot served in the banking industry as a highly successful senior vice president in commercial lending for more than 25 years. He began his new career as a full-time writer in 2010. Jeff’s primary genre is literary fiction, but he has also written sports and business stories along with general fiction.
“I’m very humbled to lead this organization that has assisted so many talented writers in the north Texas area for more than three decades,” says Mr. Bacot. “I’m excited to not only help our members with their writing through our group’s many programs, but also help GFWW members achieve personal and financial success in the ever-changing world of publishing.” Mr. Bacot wants to emphasize marketing strategies, utilization of the internet, and social media to increase book sales for the group’s published authors.
Jeff Bacot is enjoying that success with his new novel, On The Hole. The book reveals what many golf widows and friends have wondered for years – exactly what is discussed during the many hours spent on a golf course between friends? Readers will appreciate the wit, humor and friendship of the two main characters as they humorously and profoundly expound on women, money, religion, sex, jobs, liquor, love and life, while all the while a sinister mystery surrounds them.
Jeff Bacot, who is an avid golfer besides being a prolific writer, says On the Hole is not just a great read for golf enthusiasts. “Certainly golf plays a big part in my novel, but readers will discover the complex dynamics of male friendships, life lessons on relationships with friends, loved ones, and even within themselves,” says Mr. Bacot. “But it’s written with humor, meaning and soul that appeals to non-golfers, women, and of course, the weekend warrior.”
