New Woman Winemaker Places in International Competition
AniChe Cellars Brings Home the Medals Two Years in a Row.
Underwood, WA, November 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Rachael Horn is the only female head winemaker in the Columbia Gorge. She has received awards for both here 1st and 2nd commercial vintages.
Rachael Horn of AniChe Cellars has released her second commercial vintage and the judges agree that her wine is worthy of top awards. The event is the International Women's Wine Competition. This competition, judged entirely by leading women in the wine industry, recognizes not only the best wines submitted, but also the wines they most feel would appeal to women wine buyers and consumers. Wines were judged from a field of over 860 entries from around the world.
AniChe Cellars received the following awards in the 2012 competition:
2010 Be Holden (Rattlesnake Hills), $26.00/bottle, Silver
2010 Sirius (Horse Heaven Hills), $22.00/bottle, Silver
2010 7 Gables (Columbia Valley), $28.00/bottle, Silver
2010 Moth Love (Rattlesnake Hills, Elephant Mountain), $34.00/bottle, Bronze
2010 Atticus (Rattlesnake Hills, Elephant Mountain), $34.00/bottle, Bronze
AniChe Cellars is a small family winery located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. We make wines with an eye to European tradition with a particularly Washington State sense of terroir and style. Our wines are almost entirely varietal blends, believing that wine varietals are very much like people and dogs, with an egalitarian mixing up of characteristics to create interesting nuances and surprising complexity and beauty (think Bobby Arellano, mutts and Bordeaux).
